Part-two of our solar series...

When it comes to installing solar panels there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. In part two of this series, we are hitting on savings. These numbers and tips are an average idea of what you can expect if your home and property are set up to utilize solar power. Unsure if that's you? Shoot us a message and we will give you a free estimate.

Is it worth it?

While installing a solar array is not as expensive as it used to be it is still not an inexpensive addition. A Grid-Tied array will run you around $3-$4 a Kilowatt.

This type of array will offset your electric bill but will not power your house during a power outage. You need batteries attached to your array to have power when the grid is down. And that gets expensive, about $5-$6 a kilowatt.

For example, A 10000 Kilowatt system with no batteries will run you around $30-$40K; add another $10-12K+ for batteries if you want off grid power.

Based on your current power bill, how long will it take you to break even?

Remember that that array will not produce to its capacity every day, it needs sun for that and while the sun shines each day it is not always a day without clouds or haze.

Another benefit is that the Government still offering a tax rebate.

They have a 30% tax refund through 2019, a 26% tax refund until 2020 and a 22% ta refund until 2021. The tax refund will be completely gone by 2022. Lastly, the tax rebate and all incentives are paid to the home owner, not an agency or corporation.

It is important to really calculate the numbers to ensure you get the most out of your panels but also simply making sure it is a worthy investment.
